Hi – and welcome to the ‘mukaumedia blog, from Sam and Clare. We specialise in audio feeedback for businesses and organisations. Anything from capturing audio testimonials, to customer feedback (straight from the horse’s mouth) to podcasting as an interactive dialogue with the wider world.

Sam Deeks and Clare Winsor - 'mu:kaumedia

Today we’re going to start making the last episode (or two) of 4Cast

It’s been a good experience and although we’ve never had more than about 100 regular subscribers to the show, it has been valuable exposure for ‘mu:kaumedia. We’ve had lots of laughs, swearwords and made plenty of mistakes, but best of all, we’ve had an excuse to talk to hundreds of people.

We’re in a interesting place with the development of the business. At times it feels like we’re aboard an ice-breaker and the market is a point just in front of the bows of our ship. We’re having to create the market as we go. And in order to do this, we’re having to be flexible and responsive to what businesses discover they need.

There aren’t any rules about how to use podcasting to benefit your business. For some people, ‘podcasting’ means nothing at all. For others, it means linking to sounds from your website or emails. For the purist, it means complex and strategic channels of interactive communication between you and your markets that upturn many, if not all of the familiar structures of communication media. Gulp.

When we first started podcasting (8 months ago) I assumed that more people understood podcasting than actually do. I quickly learned to take any assumption I made about podcasting, divide it by 42, add 17, minus 11 and subtract the first number I thought of to get the real picture.

So the purpose of this blog is to continue exploring what podcasting is, how it works and what it can offer to businesses – and to demystify the process a bit. We don’t claim to know the answers; if we’re ahead of you it’s only because we know some of the questions.
