Why blog?
Here’s why a business should blog
First of all, forget the name ‘Blog’. It’s a silly name that totally undersells the thing we’re talking about.
What we’re talking about is user-friendly, post-Google web design for people who want to be in control of how they represent themselves online. For people who want to learn how to get found in Google by doing it themselves.
Blogs are not diaries. They’re a communication platform that you can use to speak to the world and listen to what it says back to you.
This platform is great for putting you high in the Google search results, without the cost or the mystery that often goes with ‘SEO’ and ‘PPC’. All you need to do is post regular, relevant content. Embed your keywords in your page and post titles. Write your post copy with your keywords in mind. And keep doing it.
Blogs aren’t just platforms - they’re hydraulic platforms! They move up and down according to the quality, frequency and relevance of your content; the quality and relevance of the people who link to you and the amount of traffic you get (among other things).
And the higher your platform, the easier it is for you to lob your carefully-aimed posts towards the top of Google’s results.
Here are some examples of what this blog does for us
• ‘adwords podcast‘
• ‘where can I sell my sales training audio online?’
• ‘business podcast’ [Bah, page 3. Must try harder!]
These results aren’t exactly hard work. In many cases, they come from a single, well-written post. Now that’s why your business should be blogging.
